POEM - Stepping Out

 


As I step out today, I remind myself

That I'm a child of the Most High God

The daughter of a King

An overcomer, more than a conqueror I am

Yes, I can do all things through Christ who gives me His strength

It is well, it is well, it is well.

I will pursue, I will overtake and I will recover

I will not be afraid, because He is with me

It is my time to fulfill purpose

So I go forth with boldness

I am stepping out!

Devotional - The Brightness of Your Dawn

  Nations will come to your light and kings to the brightness of your dawn. Isaiah 60: 3 It was 6:15 a.m. and I was on my way to work. As I headed east on Washington Boulevard, I was struck by the awesome display of God's handiwork when I encountered a beautiful sunrise in all its glory. HEALTH and WELLNESS - SELF-CARE

  Many of us struggle to slow down and take time out for ourselves in today's fast-paced world. With the never-ending demands of family, career, church and community involvement we end up exhausted, as walking zombies. The busyness starts as soon as we wake up and before we know it the day is over. It seems that  there needs to be more hours in the day to do all the tasks we have to do. The day ends we go to bed and repeat the cycle the next day. Is that the ideal way to live? Certainly not. In all the busyness of life, we must remember to stop and take time for ourselves.  I am reminded of the words of a chorus which says that our body is the temple of God and needs the greatest care.  As such, we care for it to the best of our ability. We must take proper care of ourselves so that we can be in the best place to take care of others. Devotional - God's Lavish Love

See what great love the Father has lavished on us that we should be called the children of God ! 1 John 3:1 Recently, I had some business cards printed in order to advertise my new business in editing services. I had ordered 100 cards but when I received the package and checked, I realized that I had received 108. I sent a message to the printer informing him of this as I assumed it was an error. He responded by indicating that he was aware that I had received more than I had paid for. He explained that it was the norm for the business to give 'extras' to its clients. I then recalled that the same thing had happened when I had my first book, Memorial Stones,  printed by that same printer. At that time, he had told me upfront that he had put in a few extra copies at no extra cost and I was extremely grateful. Devotional - Walking in Integrity

  The eyes of the Lord are everywhere, beholding the evil and the good. (Proverbs 15:3) Recently while I was on my evening walk through the community, someone stopped me for a chat,  commented on how consistent I was with my exercise routine and encouraged me to continue on that trend. The brief encounter was surprising on two fronts - one, I did not know this person and had not recalled meeting him, and two, I had no recollection of encountering him on any of my previous walks.  All of that did not matter. I had never seen him but he had obviously seen me walking before and had taken note that I did so on a regular basis. I engaged him briefly in conversation, thanked him for his observation and continued on my way.  As I thought about our conversation it opened my eyes to the principle of integrity which causes one to consistently behave in a moral and upright way, doing the right thing at all times, even when no one is watching.
