Motivational Quote

A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. (Chinese Proverb). Hi friends, just popping in to remind us of a simple truth stated above. It's something we often hear, but until it begins to resonate in our spirits and stir us to action, we have not really heard it.  My encouragement for you today is to identify a goal, make a plan and start making steps toward accomplishing it. A goal without a plan is simply a dream, so get planning and get moving. Never put off for tomorrow what you can do today. Tomorrow is not promised and procrastination is the thief of time. Time lost can never be regained, so make the most of the time that you have.  So dig deep, gather your courage and step out in faith in order to fulfill your destiny. Make the first step. Then make the next step, slipping in some courage, tenacity, motivation, determination and drive. Before you know it, what seemed to be the longest journey, will be over and you will be reaping the sweet rewards of your lab

Words of Inspiration - Things Can Change in an Instant

It was very bleak and dreary when I left home for work one morning. If I had allowed myself to be influenced by what I was seeing, I would not have taken the first step to start the journey. But duty called and I had to be at work, come what may. So, with a heavy heart, I set out on my journey. I would rather be in my bed, but I had to press past what I was feeling in order to accomplish the task at hand.  Several minutes into my journey, I noticed that the conditions remained the same. It was shaping up to be a rainy, dark and gloomy day. Not the condition that would entice anyone to venture outside. I began to condition my mind for what lay ahead for the rest of the day. As I rounded a corner, I was met with the most beautiful rainbow and the brightest sunshine ever. Instantly my mood and outlook changed. I totally forgot what was behind me and looked with joy and great expectation to what was in front of me. What was behind me was no longer important; what was before me was much m

Devotional - Plug Into The Source

I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much   fruit; for without Me you can do   nothing.     John 15: 5 It was very hot, muy caliente, and so, in a desperate bid to get relief, I turned on my fan. But the anticipated relief did not materialize. The fan did not budge. It did not seem to be working. Puzzled, I got up to check as I thought it was malfunctioning. Everything seemed to be intact, but on closer examination, I realized that it was not plugged into the socket. It was therefore lacking the power it needed to do its job. By itself, it could not function, it couldn’t fulfill the purpose for which it was created, but as soon as it was connected to the source of power, it was good to go.  It provided a cool refreshing breeze to combat the fierce heat, providing a sense of comfort and relief. Problem solved!   Like that electric fan that cannot function without a power source, a child of God cannot effectively live the Christian life if he is

WORDS of INSPIRATION - There’s An App For That

In today's world, with the information superhighway, any information that you need is now at your fingertips, and can be quickly found by checking Google or YouTube, or personal assistants such as Siri and Alexa. Better yet, as the popular saying goes, ' there is an (application) app for that.' Apple, in 2009, registered and immortalized the phrase’ there’s an app for that ’ in relation to the wide range of apps available for its iOS devices and was used in an advertisement for its iPhone. As the saying goes, the more things change, the more they remain the same. There is an App,  written thousands of years ago, that has stood the test of time and is as relevant today as it was then. Interestingly, this App will continue to be relevant for years and decades to come. The Bible, God's App for mankind is His letter to us, outlining His abundant love which he has lavished on us, making us His children as long as we are willing to accept the offer. It is His manual that s

Devotional - Good Samaritans

Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: Love your neighbour as yourself. No other commandment is greater than these. Mark 12: 30-31. An incident at my office last week was a marvelous example of loving your neighbour in action. A bride had travelled to Jamaica from overseas for her big day - her wedding day.  I imagine that she had, like many brides to be, visions of the perfect wedding  day floating around in her mind. However, this was far from the reality on the actual day. As the saying goes, there is many a slip between the cup and the lip, and so, though she thought all the arrangement and preparation had been made, a major hiccup surfaced on the appointed day. Frantic, she sought help from the relevant department, but none was forthcoming. Some of my colleagues realized what was happening and immediately sprang into action, pulling out all the stops to help a stranger in need. Talk

Devotional - $200 Worth of Silver

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. (Hebrews 12:1)   I needed to buy a new purse, or so I thought. You see, my current purse, a Christmas present which I loved dearly, was bursting at the seams. No matter how hard I tried, the zipper would not cooperate with me. The purse would not close, it just would not budge. I thought the zipper had gone bad and that it was time for the purse to be thrown out, creating another expense that I had not budgeted for. But then I had a thought. I looked at the sides of the purse and could almost literally feel the strain it was under as the sides bulged from the weight of all that silver that had accumulated over time. Maybe if I took out the silver, I could get the purse to close! So I went to work throwing out all the silver I had
